Just a few:

1. Make sure to protect your more tender plants. Palms should be tied up and wrapped for good measure. Bananas should be cut down and mulched heavily. Other marginal plants should be mulched or treated with either Wilt Pruf, or Freeze Pruf.
2. Water is crucial. The periods of cold that are typically the more killing periods are when it is cold and DRY. The plants can't get water and they die from drying out and not of the cold. Make sure to water your plants during extended cold periods.
3. Clean up time...now is the the time to prune your trees, clean up those roses, and make sure you get your dormant spraying done. A little bit of maintenance now goes a long way when those nuisance bugs and diseases begin to rear their heads in the spring and summer.
4. Pollinate more efficiently. A single mason bee can do the work of 100 honey bees. Buy or build nesting areas for mason bees and introduce them into your yard by buying cocoons. Come visit us for more information.
